Medal of Colors Horus Heresy 2017 – Part1

On last Saturday August, 5th 2017, my friend Rémi and I had the honor to host the Medal of Colors – Horus Heresy 2017 in Vienne, France.

For those not familiar with Medal of Colors events, this is a new concept of miniatures wargaming events where we put the cinematographic and painting sides of the hobby at the center. The spirit of Medal of Colors events is to play “fun and friendly battles on nice battleboards with fully painted armies”.

This was the second edition of this event on the theme of the Horus Heresy and it was a great success! All the players came with beautiful and diverse armies, we were really impressed by the higher level of painting and conversion overall. The playing atmosphere was friendly with a high level of fairplay! So thanks again everyone for making this event such a great moment!

This time, the three battleboards, each representing one famous battle of the Horus Heresy were:

• District Imperialis for the battle of Calth,
• Botanicum Garden for the battle of Tizca,
• Zone Mortalis for the boarding of the Contrador.

District Imperialis (Calth)

This battle was set on an urban gothic battleboard depicting a district of Calth.

For the morning game, the Raven Guard (Killboum) fought against the dark Mechanicum (Saresti).

Botanicum Garden (Tizca)

This battle was set on an egyptian-antique-inspired battleboard depicting the interior of a Tizca’s Pyramid during the battle of Prospero. If you want to know more about this table, here is the link to the previous article about it.

For the morning game, the Night Lords (Ziegler) and Death Guard (Igor) fought against the World Eaters (Gritche) and Word Bearers (Christophe).

Zone Mortalis (Contrador)

This battle was set inside the spacecraft Contrador. If you want to know more about this table, here is the link to the previous article about it.

For the morning game, the Solar Auxilia (Ethanes) and Emperor Children (Garga) fought against the Imperial Fists (Blood Daddar) and  Imperial Fists (D Red).

Duels of Heroes

As an interlude during this day of battles, we had a few duels between different characters and Primarchs.

Killboum leads the way with Corvax, Primarchs of the Raven Guard challenging a full veteran squad of Igor’s Death Guard.

The next duel was between Sevatar (Ziegler’s Night Lord) and Lucius (Garga’s Emperor Children).

Finally, Valdor (Rémi’s Custodes) challenged (and tamed) simultaneously Kharn (Gritche’s World Eaters) and Erebus (Christophe’s Word Bearers).
