MoC Player’s Profile – Killboum

Medal of Colors is a growing community of miniatures wargamers which like to play “fun and friendly battles on nice battleboards with fully painted armies”. We wanted to highlight these Medal of Colors’ Members and their individual Hobby story. During the latest Medal of Colors – Horus Heresy 2017, we asked them a few questions and we will share with you their answers for the next few days.

English Killboum

What is the origin of your nickname?
It dates from my first Counter Strike LAN.

What do you do for a living? And what profession would you have done if you were born in the 30th millennium?
I am a Certified Public Accountant. In 30k, I would have been a little scribe who follows a Magos of the Mechanicum.

Where are you from? Are you member of a club (or regular player circle)?
I live in Nice. I am the founder and president of the Nice Wargame Association. We organize several wargames events in Nice and its surroundings (FIJ in Cannes, Tag Team in Mouans Sartoux, etc).

Rather Horus or The Emperor?
Rather Emperor, but it depends as I like the Word Bearers.

What is your favorite 30k army?
Raven Guard, it was my first army at 40k and I also wanted the 30k version.

How long have you been in the hobby?
I started at 15, so it has been 18 years.

What aspects of the hobby do you like most?
I like two aspects: the game because I love playing, I am a big kid and also the social side because I like the contact with others.

Are you playing other games than 30k?
In addition to wh30k and 40k, I also play Warhammer Battle 8th ed, Necromunda, Mordheim and Kings of War.

Rather brushes or airbrush?
Neither of them, because I have les and less time to paint, so now I have my mini pro-painted! Otherwise, my favorite technique was dipping.

How did you hear about the Medal of Colors events?
By Matt (SimpleAsWar) with whom we were in high school together. At the time, we had founded together with another mate (Bastien), the Nice Wargame Association which continues to exist since, through several events on the French Riviera.

What would you recommend to those who would like to join the Medal of Colors adventure/community?
Get started! These events are a great way to meet a lot of players in a different mindset than traditional tournaments.

Do you have a Hobby-related anecdote to share with us?
I would always remember a game in which my opponent managed 36 2+ saves in a row. I think he had sold his soul to the devil. Worse, in addition, he was an Alsatian!

Comment as-tu entendu parlé du mouvement Medal of Colors ?

Here are the pictures of the Raven Guard army he played at the Medal of Colors – Horus Heresy 2017.

Killboum is one of our MoC veterans as he basically attended to all the Medal of Colors ever (Horus Heresy 2016, Inq28munda 2017 and Horus Heresy 2017). In addition to be one of the smartest wh40k player I know, he is also a great Tournament Organizer and gives a lot of his free time to animate the wargame community on the south of France. Big thanks for that!

Matt
