As you may have read in this previous article, I’ve attended a tournament last month in Mouans Sartoux (south of France). The story was: a few days before the tournament, the organizer told us that he had a problem with the original trophies he prepared and that we would probably have no trophy for the tournament. A tournament without trophy is kind of sad and thus we had to find a solution. The other challenge was: this was a 2-players team tournament and if we wanted to give trophies to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams, we would need six trophies, two of each. Add two “Paint Prize” trophies for the team with the best looking armies and we reach the total of 8 trophies to make in less than 3 days. I looked at my bits box for inspiration and I found it with six old Imperium Sector walls and two empty Vallejo paint bottles! I glued each piece on a block of woods and I started making their bases to have a smooth transition. After two coats of black primer, I airbrushed a quick pre-shading with a white primer. The net steps was a layer of gold, silver and bronze, respectively for the 1st 2nd and 3rd place trophies. For the « Paint Prize » I wanted something a little bit more original. I quickly improvised a spiraling of red, yellow and green with some masking tape. Finally, I did some weathering with AK-interactive rust streaks and rust pigment on the bottle.
Do you like them?
If have any idea for the next trophies, let me know!
